Original Rib House in Vandalia

Interesting place. Was not a place I would usually stop at. But I was glad I did. Very friendly people. Little run down, but this is usually a place that only the local go to. So it's always good

This was my first visit. And, the first time I have ever responded to an experience at a restaurant but, this is noteworthy. I ordered the Combo only to learn later they were out of pulled pork so they sustituted, next after ordering learned they were out of French fries. Once our orders arrived, the Chicken and rib combo was white meat instead of the order of dark meat yep, you guessed it. They were out of dark meat. And then moments later the server told the people behind us they were out of Orange Soda. The food was dry and tough. Asked to speak to a manager but, she was too busy cooking in the kitchen to come out. This was my 2 hour and 25 min experience. I will let you judge if I will ever be back.

Wow. We had our wedding reception for approximately 40 people at The Original Rib House. From the moment that we met Renee (the manager) to schedule and plan it, we knew we were making the right decision. She was so welcoming and accommodating. From set up to clean up, it was very easy. The staff went out of their way to make each of our guests feel special and welcome. The food was great. We had dancing and the lighting made it intimate. I would highly recommend this place for your event.

Terrible! Literally just left this place. Been driving by for years and finally just stopped in to see what it was all about. Got pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and green beans. Green beans were ice cold, Mac and cheese was barely warm, and the pulled pork was not in any sense fresh. For 17 bucks I could have went to a grocery store and prepared the same meal in a microwave in less time at a better quality. Server was nice that was the only thing good here. I didn't eat more than a few bites; paid and left.

Too long a wait and I had the tenderloin ribs which were more expensive and they were tough as they could be

Placed an order this evening is through door dash, was given an estimated time of 40 minutes. An hour after I placed my order the rib house called to let me know they were out of ribeye( I did not order ribeye) she apologized and said my order was ready and would be on the way. An hour and a half later I received a message my order was canceled. I called and was greeted with repeated “we closed” over and over, I say your not closed if you’re answering the phone, I was responded with nothing but rude comments and hung up .... always great experiences before today, true disappointment

Fabulous, old towne rib house in Vandalia, Ohio. Has incredible ribs,.broasted chicken and the original fried cheddar cheese balls!! Simply the best!

Was my first time there great food great service great drinks will be back.

My boyfriend and I ate there for the first time yesterday and were astounded with how good the food was. He got a New York strip steak and it was cooked EXACTLY how he asked. Very juicy and flavorful. I got chicken which was also exploding with flavor. Prices are reasonable. I definitely recommend going here!

We always receive excellant customer service when we're there, and they make the best broasted chicken and broasted potato wedges you can find. It is made to order, so there is a little wait, but it's worth it. We definitely recommend you give them a try, you'll be glad you did.

The Food was dry,I will never go there again.

Older large restaurant with lots of room & bar. I thought a little pricey. Service good and moderately busy about 4 pm midweek.

Almost $30 altogether for dry ribs. I can see why this place is closing down

Wanted to eat here for the last time before it closes permanently on 7/13/19. Firstly it opened at 4pm but the front door was locked. We were waited on quickly but it did take awhile for our food to arrive. The waitresses and hostes seemed overwhelmed and patrons were waiting to be seated! It took some time to get our check to pay. Not a smoothly run system like it once was in the past!

Seemed old and dirty. Poor service. Food was below average. Don't go here...it's bad

The broasted chicken is amazing. The house dressing is wonderful. The rolls and atmosphere leave a little to be desired. This is a definite dining must.

You can't serve mediocre food at high prices and slow service. This was the second time I've actually dined in and both times took over 40 minutes to get my food and that was after waiting to place my order. Not to beat a dead horse but this place is a dead horse. The restaurant needed updated 20 years ago and it's hard to see them in business another 2.

Passing through Dayton I find this local restaurant. I love dining on local food, meeting local people, and enjoying what they have to offer. I was very happy to find this place. Food was great and I was treated with such hospitality by the staff and other patrons.Will be back through the area in May and will be sure to treat them to such a great meal and some awesome company!

This was hard to do based on the years of good service we have experienced at Rib House. Unfortunately as of late the food has been downright nasty. We ordered takeout Thursday and when we got home the boneless ribs my wife got were dry and tasteless and her fries were not even warm but cold. (We came 10 minutes earlier than what we were told for pickup) the two 1/2 racks my son and I ordered may have well just been beef jerky. Neither of us are more than half because they were so dry it was like they had been sitting out all day and were just given to us. This is highly disappointing since we live 2 minutes from Rib House and eat bbq often. Just downright disappointing.

hey i am the cook there mike we r getting back on track there better service and fantastic food now i cook fantastic steaks come in and get some ny strips and let me know and i will make the best steak like i always do anyway and got plenty of new apps and drinks come support the waitresses out and enjoy a good time wit the owner renne plzz if u have been there befor and didnt like it plzzzzzz give it another shot and plzzz let me know and will make sure ur service tbe best u have had i have worked and ran a couple of the old hickorys and am trying to bring my exsperience there so people can enjoy it so again plzzz give it one more shot or come try it urself if u aint been there i will do my best to make sure everything perfect ans try to interaxt with some of the pwople to get feed back one on one

Love they dressing on salads,garlic,ribs are always good there.

Everything was really good and fresh. Service was excellent.

Tonight my husband and I brought our daughter, her husband and son to your restaurant for her birthday dinner. Her ribs were ok, not great. My husband and I both had two of the worst racks of ribs we've ever eaten. They were very dried out, burned-on sauce.We would have sent them back but chose not to embarrass our daughter. I've tried your place 5 times, 4 times had lousy ribs. Plus my husbands pop was flat and waitress acknowledged carbonation was bad. Why would you continue to serve it. I had a margarita, weak and watered down. We won't be back. Our "bad" to keep coming back hoping it would get better.

This place has the worst service ever. Whoever the "new" waitress is was completely rude and disrespectful. As a paying customer I expect to be treated with respect and this lady did not give me that. Told us that she was there to make money and refused to bring out extra bread when we politely asked. Also said not to tip her because she didn't want our money. Weirdest and most inappropriate restaurant experience I've ever had. I will NOT be returning to this place and suggest that other people don't either.

Good service, worst ribs I have ever tried to eat. The waitress said they have a pork chop texture. I could not get mine to cut off the bone nor could I bite into them! Our whole party had the ribs and said the same. The salad and fried cheese was good.

Great food and service. House salad dressing and broasted chicken are fantastic choices.

The food is decent, but overpriced. The staff is extremely offputting. They're not nice at all, and almost seem to avoid you. Also if you're under 40 prepare to feel very out of place. I kept getting glared at by ancient couples. It's practically a nursing home in there. With an aging clientele like that, I'd be surprised if they're still open come 2020. But overall, you'd be better off going to KFC across the street. The food is just as good and at least the staff won't be super passive aggressive towards you like at the Rib House.

It was good and worth a return trip. As simple as it sounds, a MUST try is the house salad dressing. It's a light sweet Italian garlic...simple and delicious! Excellent homemade fries too.

The food was good but the service was horrible! We had reservations for a party of 15, we were the only table in the resruraunt, and the server(in a pink shirt) had a horrible attitude! During most of the meal 6 people had empty glasses, we had to go up to the kitchen and ask for refills or get them ourselves. They also never took any dirty plates away the whole meal, if you're in service you now this is a must. So at the end when we went to pay we still tipped 20% but left notes telling them to loose the attitude especially when you didn't even do your job! To top it off the waitresses mom showed up and started to threaten to beat our asses (in the parking lot as we were leaving) for telling her daughter she did a bad job! This is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had! Good luck to anyone who goes there in the future hope your experience is better but we won't be retuning!

I been eating here 30+ years and love the ribs,boneless ribs, and I can't get enough of the onion loaf

There are a lot of new places to go to eat but the original rib house is still a better option attentive service and good food full service bar Barbeque ribs are excellent

Stopped by for lunch. Had a burger and fries. The burger was tasty and cooked as a requested. The server was attentive and we had a nice lunch. Price was reasonable.

Really long time to get served. Butt, then again they are closing. Really good food. Sad to see them close.

Really good food, but they were catering to a large group in the main dining area. The large group overwhelmed the staff and we're rude and intrusive to other patrons Trina was our waitress and she was so friendly and kept up with everyone's needs. She smiled the whole time, I know how hard that must've been. If the owner reads this, I believe she needs a raise. Thanks for making our day more enjoyable 😁

Worst rib I've ever been to. Our party waited an hour and a half for our food. The chicken was over cooked and the service was terrible. Never again!

Food was decent, it did take a long time to cook though. Would be a better service if I didn't have to wait for steak to cook.

Great steaks even the next day left overs so tender.

Best broasted chicken in the area been going here since I was knee high to a grasshopper
